How much do you charge? (Resume Services)
Please see our current price list.Are the fees for this service tax-deductible?
It depends. You may claim these fees as job search expenses on your federal taxes if you are looking for a new job in your current profession, even if you do not get a new job.
You can't deduct these fees if you are looking for a job in a new occupation, if there was a substantial break between the ending of your last job and looking for a new one, or if you are looking for a job for the first time.

What personal information do you need from me?
We require basic info such as name, address, and email to match your order with your purchase information. This is contact information that is usually included in a resume or cover letter.
Your personal information is not used for any purpose other than to perform the requested evaluation and to complete the purchase through a secure transaction with Paypal. By using a Paypal cart, your payment is processed without revealing to us any of your payment details, such as bank or credit card information.
We will share your personal information with others for two purposes only: 1) for payment-related matters, as noted above and 2) in the highly unlikely case that we are required to do so by law enforcement agencies.

Why do I need this service? I already hired someone to write my cover letter/resume for me.
Eliminate Typos. Hiring someone else to write your cover letter or resume doesn't eliminate the need for error checking. Some of the worst examples of poor grammar, misspellings, and missing words are found in "resume mills" and otherwise well-qualified individuals who fail to ask a second party to review their writing for typos. The old rule from high school English class holds true when writing for others as well as oneself: A writer can't edit their own work effectively!
Reference Checking. Another reason to use our service is that professional resume writers often do not check references. The best cover letter or resume in the world won't get you the job if you unknowingly list a reference who doesn't advocate for you. Don't make the mistake of creating a great resume, and then having it all go to waste because of a poor reference. Let us help you get into your next job!
Is it safe to order from your site?
Absolutely. Purchases from our site are handled through PayPal, which uses high-level encryption to keep your purchase information safe.
Our site is also verified to assure you that we are who we say we are. This verification helps you to know that we are legitimate and that our site contains trustworthy information. Click on the site certificate to the left for more information.
Do you need to have my social security number?
Your social security number is not required for our evaluations. We do require basic information to match your order with your purchase information, and of course, your contact information is usually included in your resume or cover letter.
I can't afford MS Word! How can I submit a Word-compatible version of my resume?
In order to prepare your report, we do require you to submit your resume and/or cover letter in a format that can be read by MS Word. But relax. There are free programs available that can do just that and not cost you anything but the time to download them.
Our Resources page lists some of them, such as Open Office , AbiWord, and GoogleDocs. These free resources work with common computer platforms like Windows, Mac, and others. (If you have a favorite open source program not listed here, please send us an email and we will add it to our Resources page.)
How is my report delivered?
After completion, a protected PDF version of your evaluation report and a commented version of your submitted file(s) will be available in the Download Files area of the site.
The Download Files link is visible in the Forms, Reports, and Files section when you are logged in to your account.
Can I have a printed report mailed or faxed to me?
We do not mail printed reports, or copies of reports on CD. Your report is available in digital format as a PDF file and may be downloaded from your account. You do need to be logged in to your account to access the download area.
When can I get my report? Do you offer rush services?
Evaluation reports are written after conducting a thorough review of your submission materials, depending on the package or service ordered. On average, our reports take about 7 days to complete.
We do offer Priority handling and Rush services for an additional charge. Turnaround for Priority handling is generally 4 days, and Rush is usually 2 days. Keep in mind that the turnaround on services that include reference evaluations is limited by the business hours and promptness of these individuals to respond.
Do you offer a resume writing service?
We don’t currently offer a service to write your resume or cover letter for you.
Why? Much of what goes into a resume is basic info that you have to type out whether you write your own resume or hire someone to do it for you. Several free and reasonably priced options are available online or as standalone software programs that will compile and format resumes. (See our Resource section.)
Our service will check your resume or letter for errors, typos, and formatting consistency and report back to you with our evaluation and suggestions.
What happens when you contact my reference?
We contact the person you identify, using the information you provide. We explain that you listed them as a reference on a job application and request information from them for that purpose. Our service is confidential. We do not reveal to them that you hired us to evaluate their responses.Can’t I just call my reference to see what they will say?
Yes, but two basic reasons make that a poor decision:
First, it is difficult to call someone you used to work with and not expect them to recognize who is calling, and second, references aren't often truthful with you if they have something negative to say about you.
In addition, an unbiased, standardized report from a neutral party has more value and credibility should your reference turn out to be negative. Our reports are delivered in a protected digital format which prevents alteration.Can I request specific questions be asked for the reference evaluation?
No, not at this time, and we do not advise it.
If there is any chance you may choose a legal course of action, it is best not to alter our evaluation so your report is standardized and verifiable, and so we may remain unbiased both in appearance and in fact.Can my former employer reveal specific info about how I did my job?
The issues your references discuss with us will cover topics that are commonly discussed between a former and prospective employer. If information is revealed in a reference evaluation that you believe is improper or incorrect, our report will help you to more knowledgably and confidently make decisions about listing that reference (or not), or possibly to pursue other action.Can you track down a reference for me if they have changed jobs or left the company?
If the contact info you provide is outdated or incomplete, we will include that information in the reference evaluation. We are not a detective agency, however, and are not able to locate your reference for you. We will do our best to contact your reference given the provided information and will report any difficulties we encounter.
It is in your best interest to provide us with the most up-to-date contact info you can. If you are uncertain as to how to reach a reference, you can try calling other colleagues or co-workers, or try the HR department. You may also find your reference's contact info using the company web site or a Google search.
Can I place an order to evaluate someone else's references?
No. We offer our evaluation services to individuals for their own use only. At this time, we do not offer our services to third party individuals or organizations.
However, if you wish to purchase our services as a gift for someone else, you may do so.
